Take Care of Your Skin and Boost Your Confidence

Our skin being the largest organ in our body is not just used to cover the whole body. Aside from protecting the internal organs from the outside environment, this organ is also responsible for our whole well being and our self perception. By paying a little bit more attention to the little details of our skin, will not only improved our confidence but also help us look younger. Here are some tips that you can do to make sure that your skin in is perfect condition every time.

• According to Dr Nisith Sheth, dermatologist consultant at Cadogan Clinic, Staphylococcus and streptococcus bacteria thrives on our skin during the warm weather, thus can lead to infections. You can lower your risk of infection by using soap substitutes that an antiseptic ingredient like benzalkonium chloride, it will also help you counter dry skin and fight body odor causing bacteria.

• The best time to apply antiperspirants is on bedtime. Dr. Sheth explained that the armpit switches off sweating when we lie flat, thus making the application of antiperspirant more effective then. The antiperspirant works by passing into the openings of the sweat glands, making them to swell and block the passage, however if the sweat is already pouring out from the glands, then it won’t be able to get in. Even after a morning bath, the effects will still last for 24hours.

• Overproduction of sebum is seen whenever there is a rise in temperature. Thus causing adult acne to get worse during the summer months. The sebum produced mixes with the dead skin cells, clogging the follicles and precipitating spots. Dr. Sheth’s advice is, if your skin seems to be oily, it is best to wash the skin with salicylic acid in the morning. But be careful not to apply it on sunburned skin, since it can be drying.
