How and when did you get started in training and living a fit lifestyle?
I have been pretty active my whole life. I’ve always played sports and growing up on land I was always outdoors. I joined a gym at the age of 18. Once I eventually got off the cardio machines, started lifting weights and saw the changes it made to my body, I fell in love with the lifestyle and havn’t looked back since!
What got you started in the fitness industry?
My first ever coach approached me in the gym one day and told me that I should compete. Although I’d always trained hard, I’d never stuck to a strict diet. I was shocked at the package I brought to stage and what I was capable of. From then, I continued to compete and study to learn as much as I could and now coach others in the industry. I’ve also been blessed to work with some amazing companies and photographers over the past year.
Along your fitness journey, have you ever felt like quitting… and if so what/who motivated you to keep going?
There’s definitely been days I’ve felt like quitting but I think once this lifestyle becomes second nature to you, it’s easy to get back on track. I’m grateful to be in the position to inspire and empower women so my clients and followers are a big part of what keeps me motivated each day.
What types of cardio have worked best for you?
I love starting my day with fasted cardio. I’ll also to throw in some HIIT sessions post weight training a few times per week to mix it up and keep me challenged!
What supplements do you use… and what are some of your favorites you would recommend?
My Shredz Supplements are a staple in my daily routine. I sip on the BCAA’s during training to maintain muscle mass and have my Shredz Thermogenic Protein post workout. The blueberry muffin flavour is my favourite and perfect for if I’m craving something sweet! If I’m preparing for a show or photoshoot I’ll also take the Shredz Burner Max before cardio every morning.
When you look back what do you think has been the key to achieving your goals?
Consistency and not giving up when not seeing results straight away. I think that’s where a lot of people go wrong. I also think it’s important to be realistic with your goals and the time it’ll take to get there. Results definitely don’t happen overnight! It has to become a lifestyle to be sustainable.
What’s one tip you would give to a person just starting their fitness journey?
Never put ‘YOU’ on hold. Do what you can with what you have. We all have different lifestyles and priorities, it’s about finding YOUR balance, what you can make time for and what works for you. Then make the choice to commit to it 100%.
What’s one of your favorite quotes?
“Don’t let where you came from dictate where you’re going”
What’s next for you?
More photoshoots, travel and expos. I’m also currently taking a break from competing to focus more on working with my sponsors and continuing to grow my online business. My main goal in the industry will always be to continue to motivate and inspire others to live a healthier lifestyle.
