Heidi Cannon A Woman On The Move

When did you get started in training and living a fit lifestyle?

I have always been active my entire life; From karate, motocross to dance I’ve always been involved in some sport but it wasn’t until I got engaged and was prepping for my wedding day that I really got involved into fitness. I had a friend that was a trainer who I hired to whip me into the best shape of my life. I had no clue about nutrition 7 years ago, I ate pretty much anything I wanted to and lived on pizza and coffee (I still do enjoy these things but not every day lol) When he gave me a meal plan and taught me about what foods to eat to fuel my body I was blown away. I had more energy than before I learned what foods were good for me and what foods I had thought were so-called low cal.

I started to lift regularly and fell in love with the process of seeing my body change before my eyes. I was hooked! In the first year of marriage, I did three fitness shows lol now there’s a test on the marriage haha!

You recently placed Top 5 at the WBFF Worlds this year, how amazing was it being on stage at
the Worlds?

I can’t tell you how much I’m still over the moon happy about my placing at worlds! It was an incredible line up of women! As always the WBFF stage was top notch! Hosting at the Bellagio it was a beautiful location and 4 days of getting super glamorous! I found out after the show was done and they posted the official standings I actually ended up coming in 4th ! I’m so excited to start training for the LA pro show my plans are to get that crown.

Are you still planning to compete again in the future?
Most defiantly! I’m going to be doing the WBFF LA Pro show in April 2019, I
can’t wait!

What is the most challenging thing about being a fitness model?

I think for me one of the hardest things is feeling like- “Am I not lean enough? Am I too fluffy?” That sometimes self-doubt that everyone has at times but is amplified if I have an upcoming shoot. Again something that I continually work on.

Do you listen to music while you train?

I’m a huge Rap and R&B girl new school for sure but old school is my favorite! I can rhyme pretty much every 2pac and Bone Thugs and harmony song you can think of lol and on the total flip side I will definitely jam out to Metallica or Pantara depending on the day lol Leg day for sure some heavy metal.

Do you enjoy cooking?

To begin with I actually hated the thought of cooking or baking and steered clear of the kitchen as both my grandmas and mother were great cooks.  It wasn’t until the night that I met my future husband who asked if I could cook, and I said “yes” to impress him, and totally faked it for the first 6 months.  I had to learn quickly on my own and got into watching programs on the Food Network to get inspiration.  Now, as I’m writing this, I’m hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for 42 people and couldn’t be happier being in the kitchen.  So, the moral of my story is:  “don’t mock it until you try it”.

What is your current training style, routine or split?

Right now I’m 5 day training with 5-6 days cardio followed with typically 2 days of dance gigs.

Monday – Leg Day & Cardio

Tuesday  – Shoulders & Back /Cardio Plus
       1 hour dance practice

Wednesday  – Legs & Abs /Cardio

Thursday – HITT training

Friday – Shoulders & Abs Cardio –
       Belly dancing gigs

Saturday – Cardio Bellydance gigs

Sunday – Off, or if the weather is nice up
here in Canada I will typically ride my
       dirt bike.

What are your favorite clean foods and splurge foods?
Clean foods it has to be Halibut or Cod I looove fish with a side of basmati rice and broccoli is a staple for me. And a big surprise for my splurge meal is PIZZA , I literally have a small pizza slice tattoo on my foot just to solidify my love for the little triangle of goodness.

We love your Cannon Balls, tell us about your new project?

I’m so excited about my newest adventure! Since creating my app, Mrs. Cannon’s Kitchen, which I’m proud to say is selling in over 44 countries all over the world.  With the response of people looking for healthy options and recipe ideas, I have found the most common-asked recipe was protein balls.  I know people like easy, quick recipes, so I created my own protein ball dry mix and called it Cannon Balls (my last name being Cannon LOL).  The recipe is simple and easy:  you add 1 cup of peanut butter or almond butter if you’re allergic to peanut butter, and l/4 cup of coconut oil.  The recipe makes 24 protein balls with over 6 grams of protein per ball.  I wanted to create this recipe to help busy moms and people on the go to give them a healthier option rather than a granola bar which is chalked full of sugar.  I launched the product in July of this year and I’m presently selling them at Popeye’s Supplement Stores and branching into local grocery stores.  I plan on taking my Cannon Balls everywhere!

Sarah E. Evans Valentine’s Day Special

We asked one of the most beautiful women in the world, Sarah E Evans, what is her ideal Valentine’s Day… oh yeah and we took some amazing photos of her in lingerie. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Also, check out Sarah’s last Valentine’s Day Special: Sarah E Evans – Valentine’s Day Lingerie

Since this is a Valentine’s Day special, what is the best Valentine’s gift you’ve ever been given?
A weekend getaway, which I have received a few times in the past several years. Spending time with him out of our normal element is always a nice gift rather it’s 18 hrs away or 45 mins from home.

What’s one of the best gifts you’ve ever given on Valentine’s day?
That’s a tough one.. I’m not good at giving gifts or very romantic either. LOL However, my husband always picks out his favorite images from my shoots, so I once had them made into a calendar for just him.

What’s better? Chocolates or lingerie for Valentine’s?
Lingerie. I’m always adding to my collection for photo shoots! LOL

What’s better? Do something romantic at home or beach vacation on Valentine’s day?
Definitely, the beach vacay for me. I’m an “on the go” kind of girl so a getaway to the beach is my favorite anytime!

What’s the best thing about love?
Being able to experience life with your best friend, sharing unforgettable moments, and the adventures together.

Holly Barker Is Taking It To Another Level

From being a fitness model/ businesswoman to training thousands of clients from the launch of your new app, it’s obvious (and inspiring) you’ve come a long way. How was your experience in hindsight regarding that?

Woah!! Loaded question and Thank you for that incredible recognition!!

The experience has been both incredibly seamless as it has been led through passion every step of the way. Finding how I can scale passion and live every day through a get to mindset. Learning that life doesn’t have to suck. There may be shitty situations, but if decisions are backed with a goal of forwarding movement toward happiness, then really the relativity between horrible and amazing is only known through the experiences we are blessed.  With seamlessness comes incredible difficulty as there are obstacles every step of the way in the entrepreneur field I have chosen.

It’s refreshing and humbling every day to know that it is so much yet I am about to learn. Living through leading in my own way has blessed me with experiences I could never have imagined. I do believe the best is continuously yet to come. This may be a harmful way of thinking as I know I never fully realize the accomplishments along the way, but I believe it eludes to my effervescent energy. To know that things can never be judged for what they are. They can only uniquely mean what you create them to mean. And that’s all within my own ability. This is my growth life.

What’s the one aspect you’d say you enjoy the most about being a fitness model?

I love the ability to showcase the body I continuously build and to navigate myself through the many looks I have gone through. Healthy is beautiful. It’s taken me my whole life to accomplish the look I have and I love the ability to showcase my health t represent like-minded companies and products that help me get there.

The choice to establish a career in both businesses, as well as modeling, really was awe-inspiring one. How did the decision to merge both come to you? And in hindsight, what would you say was the most challenging thing about it?

I believe that everything is business. And when we strategically plan our educated path to allow us to explore creative alternate avenues, in this case, fitness modeling, we can thrive and explore careers that will complement each other even though they may contradict at first thought. I am so passionate about business and I am equally passionate about my health and fitness. Everything I ultimately do is a byproduct of each by default.

Jumping up and down the floor My head is an animal And once there was an animal It had a son that mowed the lawn The son was an OK guy They had a pet dragonfly The dragonfly it ran away But it came back with a story to say . Her dirty paws and furry coat She ran down the forest slope The forest of talking trees They used to sing about the birds and the bees The bees had declared a war The sky wasn’t big enough for them all The birds, they got help from below From dirty paws and the creatures of snow . So for a while things were cold They were scared down in their holes The forest that once was green Was colored black by those killing machines But she and her furry friends Took down the queen bee and her men And that’s how the story goes The story of the beast with those four #dirtypaws . PC @milianeyes Muah @karenpangmua @arsenic . Getting ready for #Bahamas with @arsenic @kowatches 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼♥️ where I will have sandy dirty paws for 5 days!!!!

Having grown up on a farm, being so close to animals and working hard since then, would you say fitness was in some way, shape, or form always part of your life? Or did you happen to discover your passion for it later in life?

I did grow up on a farm with horses and cows and bunnies, chickens, cats, peacocks and a tonne of land to be farmed… but farm work was far from my responsibility. My dad always let girls (me and my sisters) be girls. I played on the farm. But I did find my passion for fitness there as well. My dad always had a universal gym in the basement. I loved it and would do workouts and long distance runs with my cousin. I was involved in every team sport but didn’t truly find a passion for fitness until I found long distance running. The solo push drove me more than the competitive edge of a team opponent. I fell in love with running. It wasn’t until I was 21 that I got my first gym membership. From that moment I knew my play in the fitness game and had found a home in the gym.

As human beings, we all go through ups and downs and have moments of strength and weakness. As a fitness model, what inspires you when you’re down?

Honestly, fitness is always what helps me find my motivation when life seems to be knocking me down. If I’m tired, I take a day off, but if I’m sad, stressed, angry or frustrated, the gym is my saving grace.

On the days where I need a bit of motivation to get started or a push to rock an incredible workout, I search my resources for “yes I cans” – podcasts, music, motivational actors, leaders, influencers

Do you ever draw any inspiration from the fiction of any sorts? What would be your favorite movie/book/TV show etc. that you’ve taken some inspiration from?

Reality is the most make-believe of all. I am proof that you can write your story to have as many chapters as you want. We grow up learning from impossible believers. They are the ones that create our paths. We can choose to lead amongst them. Once you decide that, all fiction you choose to believe can become your reality. Your story.

What kind of music do you, yourself listen to while
you train?

Dependent on the training day.

Cardio is typically dance, electronic…

Lifting is new music, hip hop, alternative or show tunes

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Skydiving is up there. However, what I’ve done with my life this past 6 months is, without doubt, the craziest thing I’ve ever done. I’ll be able to elaborate as time passes.

What is your greatest strength?

My mental fortitude. Belief.

How do you measure success?

My happiness.

What’s your most memorable photo shoot or the funniest thing that’s happened on a shoot?

My most memorable photo shoot is my very first one. It was a pivotal moment when opportunity met preparation. I was approached after my first fitness competition by an international photographer. He asked if I wanted to shoot the day after my competition to which I did not win. He saw something in me. This experience opened my eyes to what a great visionary and experienced influence in the industry could teach me. That photoshoot got me published three different times and increased my confidence and belief that in front of the camera was something I needed to pursue. Hundreds of published images later I still attribute who I believe I can become right now greatly to that moment.

If you were trapped on an island, what 3 things would you bring with you?

Cell phone

Muah @lizziescissorhands
Style @miskasykora
