How and when did you get started in training and living a fit lifestyle?
I started working out in college by trying a lot of different things- weights, elliptical, running etc. and told myself I had to be a certain weight. After working the cubicle life, I wasn’t happy with how I looked/felt so I decided to change things up. I learned exercises to confuse my muscles and eating better so that I would have more energy and be happy with my body not what the scale told me.
What types of cardio have worked best for you and what’s a typical workout you do during the week?
I honestly don’t do a lot of cardio- I enjoy dancing and no specific type. If I do cardio at the gym it’s usually stair climber or doing some light jogging to get my heart rate up before I hit the weights. I try to work out 4-6 times a week depending on my traveling schedule. I’ll switch up what parts I work on- chest/triceps/abs, legs, back/biceps, another leg day but different exercises, and then shoulders/stairs. If I’m able to I really like kayaking or doing some hiking to change the scenery.
What supplements do you use… and what are some of your favorites you would recommend?
I use MusclePharm pre workout powder then afterwards drink Muscle Milk Light protein shake. I’ve also like protein powder shakes from Devotion Nutrition since can use them for baking as well.
Since this is a Valentines Day special, what’s the best valentines gift you’ve ever been given?
I think the best gift is always spending quality time with the person I am/was involved with. Gifts are nice, but time and memories count more in my book.
What should a guy do to catch the eye of a fitness girl?
I think not being overly arrogant or showing off. Definitely not staring at a fitness girl either! Being yourself, cracking a joke or simply asking if we need help with anything is more appealing than the whole macho man type. Maybe it works for some girls but not me!
When you look back what do you think has been the key to achieving your goals?
Keeping at it and your diet is crucial. Yes there are some days that I don’t want to go workout or might want to eat a whole cake haha. But just getting the mentality to put some time in your schedule to work out if even for just 30 minutes will help you reach your goal. I try to eat healthy most of the time but I’m human and having a cheeseburger or a cookie once in awhile won’t kill your progress.
What’s one of your favorite quotes?
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day- “Happiness is like a kiss. You must share it to enjoy it” -Bernard Meltzer
What’s next for you?
I’m continuing to expand my modeling career and in the works to endorse several companies. I might dabble in some competitions, but you never know something could spark my ambition to try since I’m always open to new experiences!
