How and when did you get started in training and living a fit lifestyle?
In 2008 I moved to Guam, YES GUAM! I received my Zumba certification while obtaining my personal trainer certification through AFFA while living on island and it was then that I tapped into my fitness gene. Both of my parents have shown myself and my siblings a healthy lifestyle growing up and still till this day they are both fitness instructors! It’s safe to say the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Returning back to NY from Guam I continued sharing my passion with others and built a clientele.
What got you started in the fitness industry?
Well it’s safe to say that my first competition, note that I did for pure enjoyment, changed everything. Taking home the first place award lit a spark inside me that opened Pandora box! It was truly the moment I stepped off stage that I began training and living the life of a competitor.
Along your fitness journey, have you ever felt like quitting… and if so what/who motivated you to keep going?
Of course! I think if you don’t reach that point, you may not be human. Just like anyone else, I have good days and bad days. I think it is important to keep a balance between your dedication and sanity Haha.I’ve learned that making room for the other things you live and enjoy is the key. My clients and supporters keep me motivated, they’re a constant reminder that what I do is something bigger than train, impacting someone else’s life has no greater reward. Besides my amazing supporters, one of my biggest Role Models is the infamous Paige Hathaway!
What types of cardio have worked best for you?
I have a not so secret love affair with the STEP MILL. My best friend! I do switch it up and do other forms of cardio, but this would be my favorite and the one I feel works best for me. I do HIIT (High intensity interval training) for about 30 mins 5 days a week!
What supplements do you use… and what are some of your favorites you would recommend?
Currently, I have been using Yohimbe (natural supplement) to aide in fat burning while I do my cardio. I love my BCAA’s while I am lifting and a glutamine & Iso or Whey protein shake post workout.
When you look back what do you think has been the key to achieving your goals?
Consistency and staying focused. I think its important to constantly ask yourself if what you’re doing each day is taking you one step closer to your goals and what can you do better each day to get ahead. Believing in myself, my dedication to fitness and always remembering to get back up when I fall have kept me going.
What’s one tip you would give to a person just starting their fitness journey?
Remember that we all start somewhere! Always trust the process, make each day count in and out of the gym.
What’s one of your favorite quotes?
It isn’t a quote rather a scripture. Proverbs 31:25-She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. It holds a place very close to my heart and keeps me grounded and reminds me that no matter what comes my way, I am capable of persevering.
What’s next for you?
Don’t make me reveal my cape, we wouldn’t want wonder woman jealous haha. Next for me is to make myself a world renown fitness icon, spreading my passion for fitness and inspiring men and woman all around the world.
