Welcome back to Fitness Gurls! We’re absolutely delighted to feature you yet again. You look beyond incredible! How have you been keeping yourself during this pandemic?
Thanks, Jason (Editor of Fitness Gurls). Delighted to be invited back. We were in Mexico for the first part of quarantine. Hollywood has remained closed longer than anyone thought so I’ve worked on small digital projects here and there… one called “T’d Up” which is a celeb golf shoe on twitch… a Fitness App called TeamUp Fitness… photoshoots… and completing courses online to get certified for my real estate license in Nevada. Just learning different skills during this shutdown, And when you need to buy a new mansion Jason, I’m your girl.
You have one of the most legendary bodies in sports, and it’s amassed you a ton of fans and admirers alike. How do you feel when people compliment your amazing figure and physique, as a person who works hard to attain it and keep it that way?
I feel super empowered when anyone compliments my figure and mainly my abs. I put a lot of work into it and when others notice, it feels like the work is recognized. But I know when I look in the mirror if I’m in good shape or not. I’m honest w myself and that’s always key. If I’m soft or heavier than normal I’m like okay, we need to turn this around.
What’s your favorite social media platform, and what are the top 3 things about it that you like?
Instagram is my favorite. It’s the most fun to scroll through. I haven’t been on Facebook in 10 years and I think Twitter is a cesspool. I just see such negativity on that platform. So I don’t mess around with anything except IG anymore.
Mental health is something that’s crucial to us all. With the way, things are it’s been tough on a lot of folks. Could you share with us which activities you partake in to keep yourself levelheaded and on the right track during times where it’s very difficult to do so?
COVID was definitely a period they tried us all mentally. I’ve been blessed to have a positive mindset… I always want to wake up and have a good day. I read an amazing book on Feng Shui that changed how I look at everything. I also collect healing crystals. I concentrate on only worrying about what I can control and my actions and leave the rest to happen as the world intends.
This current shoot was an incredible work of art and so much of it is credited towards you bringing the heat and showin’ em how it’s done! What was the experience like, and what was your favorite part of the whole shoot? Did you make a memory there you’re particularly fond of?
We did this shoot in Dave’s new home in Las Vegas and it was totally under construction. So much so that we couldn’t use any of the interiors of the home for the shoot so we improvised and made it like a “home improvement” shoot with all the tools laying around. We pivoted and got some great stuff! Pushing the lawnmower around the AstroTurf hard was hilarious and using the saw in the garage was terrifying!
Since we’re on the subject of shoots, the theme of this one was construction based. Do you have any preferences for a theme regarding a future shoot? What would the setting/backdrop be if it were up to you?
Tay Price and I already discussed one and it might break the internet. We can’t disclose yet tho, I’ll text you about it.
You’ve been a golfer, a sportscaster, and an internet personality. That’s a lot of experience in different fields. Given the agency and freedom to pursue your next project, what would you like to tackle?
I’ve always had a purpose since I was very young. I don’t know any other way to live life. You set goals and achieve them…but what happens when you reach those goals and don’t know what’s next? I’ve had to figure that out the past year. I really wanted to concentrate on my personal life since all my relationships fell apart previously due to my working and traveling so much. I have a nice life here in Vegas now with a great partner and I’ll figure out the next professional project very soon. Most likely a podcast or using my voice and communication skills in some way.
You’re an ambitious woman which is inspiring because of your appearance, your attitude, and your past experiences show off a confident and hardworking image. What’s the secret behind your determined attitude towards life, and what is it that drives you to achieve the things you want?
What drives me is just my competitive attitude. I’m not competing with anyone, in particular, it’s more myself. Sports will make someone that way. I give 100% or nothing. So I carefully select who or what I invest my time in.
Having a thick skin regarding negative or otherwise derogatory comments and remarks is a skill that’s not easy to attain and is otherwise earned over time. How do you best navigate the hate you receive?
After 11 years in the business, you tone it all out honestly. I need two or three people I trust to tell me the same thing… the same opinion… and I’ll believe them. Dave and I get some good laughs out of the hater’s comments. Some are so neurotic and distorted we just laugh. Haters and negativity/jealousy go hand in hand. If you’re constantly ragging on successful men or pretty girls…you’re just a fucking hater. Look inside and fix yourself.
What is a typical day in the life of Holly Sonders like?
They’re all different since COVID but will involve 2 hours of workouts, 2-3 Hours of phone calls, protein shakes, and likely a photoshoot or meeting about projects. I also help Dave with his business as needed which can be 1-4 hours a day on any given day. I’m always awake by 6 am too. I’m super boring And structured which makes it easy to stay in shape.
