How did you get started in fitness?
I was playing for the LFL – Lingerie Football League – DT (Defensive Tackle) and one of my teammates just turned pro in Figure. She told me about a new division called Bikini and that I had a physique that fit the description of what the NPC and IFBB were looking for. I trained with her – Taylor Rey, for 8 weeks and won my first show (Overall) the NPC Colorado State. I then decided to keeping going and competed at the NPC Nationals three months later, winning my class and earning my pro card, my second show ever. My third show, I qualified for the Olympia.
How do you stay motivated?
I constantly have to find new motivation to keep a fit life style. Its easy to get off track, so for me, living in moderation with reasonable goals and expectations helps keep me on track.
What does your diet consist of?
Lean proteins, veggies, complex carbs and healthy fats! I drink a gallon a water a day, every day. I definitely indulge here and there, I’m human!
What’s your favorite music to workout to?
Lifting I like Rock. Alice in Chains, NIN, Korn, Deftones, Perfect Circle are my favorite bands. For Cardio, I like House music!
What body part are you most proud of?
I think I’m most known for my glutes, but I’m most proud of the progress I’ve made in my arms, namely my shoulders!
Which do you like more, being a fitness model or a pro bikini competitor?
I love participating in anything competitive however I’m just now getting more into the modeling aspect of this sport after 2 years and I love it! Competing can take a toll on your body, and for me I prefer the slightly softer look of a fitness model. I recently took a poll on my fan page, do they prefer my harder competition look or softer fitness model look, the majority preferred the fitness model look!
What is the biggest fitness myth you encounter in the fitness industry every day?
That you can make a living from it. There are only a few people who have had true monetary success, and can actually call it a “job”. For most, this is a hobby, so don’t pour all of your time into this industry, make sure you are pursing all avenues of success!
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
How do you deal with cravings?
I give in , but I don’t binge! If you are working hard enough and you eat clean the majority of the time, it’s OK to give in to your cravings occasionally. If you don’t, you will end up binging and falling off and out of shape!
What are your 3 favorite exercises?
Squats – Because I’m impressed at the strength in my legs
Weighted hip thrusts – because its gives me a nice round booty
And walking lunges, the ultimate leg workout.
Which female fitness model’s physique do you admire the most?
Lori Harder hands down, she has always been my inspiration and she doesn’t even compete! I love her long lines, she a very feminine physique and yet still muscular.
What supplements would you use or recommend if any?
Glutamine, Glucosamine, Super fats, super enzymes, multivitamin, BCAA’s and protein powder.
Top 6 tips for people who want to get in shape?
Give yourself a reasonable timeline to achieve your goals, 90 days is a good goal! Change the way you eat, don’t call it a diet. Don’t make excuses for not getting your workout in, if you miss, make sure you get it in the next day. Change it up, make it fun and don’t stress out about working out. Teach others what you learn, teaching is the best motivator. Take lots of progress pictures, your progress will motivate YOU the most!
What’s next for you?
Right now I’m debating on whether or not to do a show before the Olympia and try to get qualified. I may also be attending the Arnold Europe in Madrid for my sponsor SCITEC!
