Interview With Emily Reynolds (MLE Fitness)

The Questions

Q:: What came first, the training, the modeling or the competing?

A:: First came the overwhelming desire to completely change my life through competitions. I made the decision to do my first NPC figure competition and had 12 weeks to get in the best shape of my life, this is when I then hired a trainer, nutritionist, and posing coach. My passion for this sport and renewed enthusiasm for life lead me to become a trainer so that i could share this with others. I have modeled for 12 years but fitness modeling was new to me and developed naturally once i began competing.

Q:: Which do you like the best?

A:: I love them all but if i have to choose…. I enjoy the modeling and competitions the best. It is the best avenue to get out there and meet many people and share your story.

Q:: Congrats of placing first in the NPC Bikini Competition in San Diego this year, what are you plans for the rest of the year?

A:: I am so thankful! I could not be happier with the way this year is shaping up so far. I am heading to vegas for nationals at the end of july and going for my pro card!! There is noting i could possibly want more. I have already begun to train so hard – I have a plan that can not fail :)

Q:: How many competitions have you been in so far?

A:: I have competed in seven shows and taken now 8 trophies. My first 6 shows were figure competitions and my last two were bikini.

Q:: You’ve done both figure and bikini, which do you think is the best fit for you?

A:: Hands down, without a doubt, bikini was built for me… and my glutes! :)

Q:: You also train other competitors, what do you feel in the hardest part about preparing for a competitions?

A:: By far, it is the strength of mind. When we were little we were told that we could achieve anything as long as we work hard – somewhere along the lines as we grow up some of us loose that belief in ourselves. That is what i am best at – coaching people to dig deep and find that powerful belief that anything you set you mind to is possible.

Q:: You also have a thyroid problem, how has that changed your ability to be a fitness model and a fitness competitor?

A:: When someone tells me i am not capable of achieving something it drives me harder! I was once told n that i was probably going to have to quit my job as a special needs teacher at the time and be put on disability because my graves disease had developed to such a server level. My mental strength kicked in and i proved all the doctors wrong. Years later i went back to my doctor and after my check up with him he said “what ever you are doing needs to be bottled – we could sell it for millions!” that is how my thyroid disease has affected my career.

Q:: What’s going to be your next competition?

A:: Nationals in vegas on July 29th & 30th this year. Pro Card here I come baby!!!

Q:: What do you think is your sexiest body part?

A:: Definitely my glutes!

Q:: There’s a little buzz that you have the one of the best butts in the industry, the Fitness Gurls staff agrees, is the secret genetics or just hard work?

A:: Thank you! I’d be lying if I said that my butt was not always source of many comments and compliments. What takes a lot of work is making certain that my butt is firm and toned and sits high rather than just being a big butt. I work on my butt very very hard to put it lightly.

Q:: Which female fitness celebrity’s body do you admire the most?

A:: Hands down, Amanda Latona. She is known for her butt too. What I love most about her is her natural stage presence and classy yes sexy attitude.

Q:: Which of your fellow fitness models do you admire the most?

A:: Jaime Eason. She is so modest and sweet. I admire her grace and sincere love this industry. It is more than apparent that she cares so much about people and others success and happiness. Who would not want to emulate those qualities?

Q:: MLE Fitness and Fitness Gurls Magazine is coming out with a series of fitness ebooks, what’s the theme for the first book?

A:: Glutes for sure! I am excited to share my butt blaster secrets. Stay tuned people!

Q:: So what’s next for you and MLE Fitness this year?

A:: Where do I start… biggest goal is to get my Pro Card at the Vegas show this July and with that I am hoping to get some amazing sponsors so that I can travel more and get the opportunity to reach out to more people and help show them that when you put your health and fitness first you everything else will fall into place. As I always say, “be your best you”. You are the only person that you spend your entire life with so you better treat yourself good.
