How did you get started in fitness?
I started working out when I graduated from high school and joined a gym with a girlfriend. From there, I have continued to incorporate fitness into my lifestyle. I have LOVED seeing the changes in my physique and enjoyed doing different forms of exercise. It’s not a question of if I will work out every day, it’s a question of when and what I am going to do.
How do you stay motivated?
What’s awesome is that my motivation comes from people around me and people who “follow” me on social media. I am motivated to be a good role model for them and encourage all around me to be healthy through fitness and nutrition. Yes, there are days when I want to eat junk and lay around, but seeing them hit the gym and make the right choices helps me.
Are you going to be competing any more this year?
Honestly, I have been so busy with modeling that I have not had time to really train for competitions. It takes a lot of dedication and time to train for a competition, so my travel schedule right now makes it too difficult for me
What’s your favorite music to workout to?
Anything with a great beat that pumps me up, but I love EDM! Avicii is my favorite!
What body part are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my butt because I have really changed it through exercise over the last few years. It used to be flat and now I can appreciate curves back there!
Which do you like more, being a fitness model or a fitness competitor?
Definitely being a fitness model because it’s so much fun to play in front of the camera. As a fitness competitor, you are only onstage posing for ten seconds and it’s over.
What is the biggest fitness myth you encounter in the fitness industry every day?
The biggest fitness myth that I encounter is that you have to do a ton of cardio to lose weight and get lean. It really is about workout intensity and nutrition.
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
I love sushi!!! That is a food that I could eat every single day!
How do you deal with cravings?
Honestly, I don’t really have cravings because I cook most of my food and find ways to make my favorite meals in a clean way. If I happen to have cravings, I will have tea with stevia to fix my sweet tooth. I want people to know that eating healthy doesn’t have to consist of tilapia and asparagus.
What does your diet consist of?
I eat a lean protein with every meal and consume a lot of vegetables. I have stayed away from protein shakes lately because they just don’t fill me up.
Which female fitness model’s physique do you admire the most?
I love Jamie Eason’s physique because she’s healthy, fit, and feminine.
What supplements would you use or recommend if any?
It’s crucial to supplement for what someone is lacking from their foods. People who are on a restrictive diet need to supplement with vitamins and minerals they are lacking from their diet. Everyone who is active should take glucosamine MSM to protect their joints. Omega 3 fish oils are also important for anti inflammatory effects from foods and exercise.
