Q: When did you get first into modeling?

A: Jayde- I guess my first experience with modeling, was at the age of 7, when my mother entered me in a local beauty pageant. It wasn’t a success. Since my mother was a bit naive to the pageant world I wasn’t fully prepared, I didn’t have the right dress, hair and stage presentation. But I loved being competitive, yes even at the young age of 7. I knew I could do what other girls did and do it better. I wanted to do another pageant so this time we got the right dress, did the big hair, practiced my stage presence and we were off to Palm Springs, for the southern California regional pageant. There I was crowned Little Miss of America 1986. I went on to do one more pageant, which was on the national level and came in top 10. In high school I appeared in a local community magazine, but it wasn’t until I starting competing did I find my true passion as a fitness model.

Q: When did you start competing?

I started training for my first competition in October of 2009 and stepped on stage December 5, 2009 at Jon Lindsay’s NPC Excalibur Bikini Championships. I had only trained for 5weeks and placed 5th, which wasn’t bad at all, but I knew I could have done better. I set my sights on my next competition which was March 27, 2010. I trained harder, longer, didn’t veer from my diet, I made some changes to my suit and hair and practiced my stage presence in the mirror every morning. The extra work paid off and I finished first in my height class and also took the overall title. I was on a roll, next stop was the USA’s in Las Vegas, in July 2010, were I earned my IFBB Pro Card. Five weeks later, I competed in my first Pro show at the IFBB Tournament of Champions in Culver City. I placed 2nd to Ms. Bikini Olympia herself Sonia Gonzalez and qualified to compete in the inaugural Bikini Olympia in September 2010. I took some time off after the Olympia, but recently competed at the Europa Super Show in Dallas this past August.

Q: How many days a week do you train?

When I’m competing I, weight train about 4 days a week and do cardio 7 days a week. On the off season I train 4-5 days a week, which includes yoga, running and hiking.

Q: What’s your favorite body part to train?

Well I think most women would agree that the most important body part to train are the glutes. In my case, I was blessed with a very round booty but it still takes work keeping it nice and tight.

Q: What is the body part you’re most proud of?

Since I spend a lot of time training I’m glutes, I’ve got to say I’m pretty darn proud of my booty!

Q: Do you have any other hobbies other than training?

Its pretty hard having other hobbies when you spend so much time training, there’s just not enough hours in the day. I would have to say my hobbies consist of mostly active things like yoga and hiking. When I need quiet time I love picking up a book for a stimulating read or experiment in the kitchen with new clean and healthy recipes. I consider spending time with my family and friends on Sunday afternoons one of my
favorite hobbies!

Q: What female celebrity physique you most admire?

I think its a three way tie between, Madonna, Demi Moore and Scarlett Johansson. Madonna because she’s not afraid of having muscles and I admire her spiritual approach to fitness. Demi Moore because she was such a bad ass in GI Jane and has always embraced her natural beauty and curves. And last but not least Scarlett Johansson, I love the fact that she loves and embracing her healthy, curvy body and hasn’t circum to the pressures of Hollywood’s ideal of being way too skinny.

Q: Which male celebrity physique?

I’ve got to say Brad Pitt in Fight Club…yup that does
it for me!

Q: What is your favorite movie?

Well being the hopeless romantic that I am, I’ve got to say the Notebook and the Princess Bride (I know cheesy), but I totally believe that, that kind of love really does exist!

Q: What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

I thank God for blessing my day every morning.

Q: Name 3 places you want to see before you die.

South Africa, Japan, Great Barrier Reef Australia

Q: What’s one thing you want to accomplish before the
end of 2011?

Well with only a couple months left in the year, I would have to say I would like to compete in at least one more IFBB show and….what the heck, I would love to shoot for the cover of Muscle & Fitness Hers and or Oxygen Magazine.
