The LA Fit Expo 2012 – Jan 28th – Jan 29th






(Los Angeles, Calif…January 5, 2012) – California’s largest and best known fitness event, The Bodybuilding.com Los Angeles Fitness Expo, presented by Subway Restaurants, returns Saturday and Sunday, January 28 and 29 to the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street, South Halls G and H.

Now in its ninth year, this event will bring together over 35,000 fitness enthusiasts and fans from Southern California and around the world. Attendees will come face-to-face with top-tier fitness celebrities, executives and industry veterans on a dynamic, fast-paced exhibition floor. Over 300 companies will be on hand to display, offer show discounts and give away complimentary samples.

Erin Ferries, Executive Director of the Expo stated, “Last year we were blown away by the growth in attendance. In 2012, we are looking forward to even more great celebrity guests, exhibitors and seminars, and of course, new competitions. We’re committed to providing an event that brings together fitness enthusiasts and leisure sport fans alike, all looking for a day full of education and entertainment.”

New events on the exhibit floor this year will include:

Healthy Eating Pavilion – This event will feature a variety of seminars with experts sharing various healthy cooking topics. Live cooking demonstrations will provide information on how to cook healthy, quick and easy meals. Experts will discuss specific dietary programs to alleviate ailments such as childhood obesity, diabetes, and autism. Also, attendees can learn the latest about raw food and Paleolithic diets and vegan and vegetarian lifestyles.

The First Annual Javier Vazquez Kids Wrestling Championships presented by the California Age Group Wrestling Association (CAGWA) – This tournament is part of the California Super Tournament Series (SCT5) and will also be part of the CAGWA Dominator Series. Wrestlers earn points by placing throughout the entire season and claim dominance by winning the CAGWA Dominator Championship Belt. (Sunday only)

The Gauntlet CrossFit Kids Teen Competition is a strength and conditioning contest specifically designed for teenagers. The goal is to help teens develop a lifelong love of fitness by engaging in workouts that deliver results and prepare them to be well-rounded athletes. (register online in advance)

Evolution Fitness Conference is open to all fitness enthusiasts and will offer cutting edge workshops and programming including Zumba, Pilates, R.I.P.P.E.D, Piloxing, Corebar and more. The conference –
will also provide progressive education for personal trainers and group fitness instructors who can earn up to 12 Continuing Education Units. (Separate fee to participate)

Along with these new events, several fan favorites are set to return, including The Gracie US Nationals and The Gracie Kids Worlds, MET-Rx All-American Strongman Challenge presented by GNC, BodyQuick Scot Mendelson Bench Pro Classic, American Record Makers 2012 Olympic Weightlifting Competition, The USPA American Cup Powerlifting Championships, Vise Grip Viking Challenge, The Los Angeles Fitness Expo Benchpress and Deadlift Invitational and Bodybuilding.com’s BodySpace™ Spokesmodel Search.

Iron Man Magazine Naturally Bodybuilding, Physique, Figure & Bikini Championships will demonstrate impressive physiques developed without the use of performance enhancing drugs. This event takes place on Saturday, with judging at 10:00 AM and the finals at 4:00 PM.

Show sponsor, The Personal Trainers Association (PROPTA) will provide educational seminars taught by top industry professionals in the areas of bodybuilding, strongmen, fitness, MMA, UFC, pain relief, nutrition and more.

Will your gym workouts pay off? Test your muscles at the MAXREPS 4 CASH ATTENDEE CONTESTS. Open to all male attendees, these four contests — pull ups, push ups, bench press and curl a 65 lb. barbell the most times – boast a total purse of $2,000 cash.

A heavy Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) presence will certainly be felt with Sherdog and MMA Worldwide hosting several top athletes, pro-training sessions, live remotes as well as many vendors with the latest gear. Attendees can meet former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Tito Ortiz courtesy of Punishment Athletics on (Saturday only). UFC referee Herb Dean will host the MMA Programming.

Fitness greats slated to appear include: Jay Cutler (4x Mr. Olympia, courtesy of Weider Publications); Ronnie Coleman (8x Mr. Olympia, courtesy of PROPTA); Roland Kickinger (renowned bodybuilding and actor); Phil Collen (Def Leppard lead guitarist/Muay Thai Kickboxer); Jean Carrillo (World Champion Muay Thai Trainer, courtesy of PROPTA); MaDonna Grimes, (hip hop choreographer/dancer/model) and more.

Adult admission tickets are $20 per day or $30 for the full weekend. Children 12 years and under are $10 per day and children under 6 are free. Show hours are Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM and Sunday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Plenty of parking is available.
