Gurls

Paige Hathaway – Fitness Gurls April 2014

You are one of our favorite models of all time with one of our favorite physiques of all time, how do you stay in shape year round like you do?
Well, as you may know, I am a huge advocate for women and strength training. Strength training shapes your body, defines your muscles, and gives you a lean physique so can put your fears to rest about getting big bulky muscles. I don’t kill myself with diet and training. I have found what works and how to maintain a fit tone physique all year long. I train 5 days a week and am adamant about having a clean diet 80% of the time. I feel like something a lot of people do is they tend to be “to strict” and quickly get “burnt out” They then fall off the fitness bandwagon and fall behind. Which may then lead to trying to find quick fixes to weight loss and fast results instead of doing it the proper way and creating a healthy lifestyle.

How did you get started in fitness?
It wasn’t until my early 20s that I was introduced to weight training and proper nutrition, So I kinda got a late start. In 2012, I was approached by a local trainer in Oklahoma City and together we set a goal to complete in my first state Bikini Show. I quickly became addicted to the improvements that were being made to my body, mind, and lifestyle. After four short months of training, I placed 2nd at the Ronnie Coleman; the biggest stage show in the United States and little did I know my life would never be the same.

How do you stay motivated in your fitness modeling career?
Progress from setting small goals for myself is one thing that keeps me motivated. After I started my journey into the fitness world, I also because addicted to helping people. There’s something about helping people that makes my clock tick. Especially when it’s for something as big as your health. I don’t care if I’ve helped one person or a bazillion. I’ve Inspired people, I’ve given confidence back too people who thought that giving up was a much easier route, I’ve placed hope in people’s hearts and the spark back in their eyes and NOTHING is greater than that. In return this helps motivates me to keep pushing my limits and to show people that you can do anything you set your mind to- IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING.

What does your diet consist of?
When setting a fitness goal for yourself just doing exercise is not enough.
To Optimize your results, you need to consider nutrition. I cut all processed foods.
When you grocery shop stays on the outskirts of the grocery store; the isles are where you tend to find your boxed meals. Use food as fuel. I focus on eating every 3 hrs. I Incorporate lean proteins, Complex Carbs, lots of green veggies and good fats. Limit carbs at night. My last meal is usually a protein/good fats. I don’t deprive myself I have a cheat meal once a week. My go-to cheats are fro-yo, burger, Mexican and during the week If I must I’ll nibble on a piece of dark chocolate.

What are your 5 exercises that have been the most important to building your physique?
I like movements that target Multiple areas and exercises that you don’t necessarily need a gym. I’m a fan of the basics – Push Ups, Lunges, Pull-ups, Crushes, and Plyometrics.

Are you competing this year?
If I can find the time to compete this year I would love to step back on stage again but right now I can attending a lot of international expos this year.
One goal I set for myself in 2014 was to expand and attend more fitness conventions to give back to my fans!

Which female celebrity’s physique do you admire the most?
I would have to say, Gwen Stefani. She is always rocking a midsection baring tee or tank at her concerts and her abs are on fire! Can you name a celebrity that has better abs than her? You can tell she works really hard for her body and it shows!

What celebrity male’s physique do you find an idea on guys?
Woo!! That’s a tough one but I think Ryan Reynolds is hands down the winner. Blade, The Amityville Horror and I like how he maintains his chiseled physique on and off camera. Definitely a #MCM.

What’s next for you?
Well, I just launched My Website PaigeHathaway.com. So I’ve been focusing a lot of my attention on this new project because I am so excited about it. The reason I did it is that I’ve received a countless number of emails from people asking questions about diet, workouts and the “secrets to staying fit” So I created a website to help people with their fitness journey for only 5dollars a month. I know that not everyone can be a fitness model but I believe anyone can have a fitness model body!
