WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU LOVED SPORTS?
Well, I was definitely doing summersaults while in my mothers womb. I started competing as a snow ski racer at the ripe old age of 6. Yes, 6! My mom slipped me into ski boots when I was 3 and had me hitting up the race course and competing only 3 years later. I did very well and when I was 9 years old I won a very significant race called the “Cherry Tree Charge” I was making mamma proud, and with that, I got hooked!
OUT OF ALL OF THE OUTDOOR SPORTS YOU DO, WHICH IS
Well, I am a former pro snowboarder and actually still am sponsored by a couple amazing snowboard companies like Arbor and Hoven. I am on my second year as an official athlete for bodybuilding.com and represent the world of action sports for them, which is rad because it keeps me true to my brand in the fitness world. So, obviously, my heart is in the mountains and the ocean, I see myself as a mountain mermaid, if you will. I love an epic powder day with a few feet of fresh and backcountry terrain… shredding the mountain all day is where I am most at home. But the newest cool thing that has happened since I moved to Southern California, is my recent sponsorships for stand up paddle boarding (SUP)! I actually just got asked to design my own pro mode board with Stand Up Paddle Co. It’s so amazing!! Now I can go from my pro days on the snow to my new found pro days on the water and be validated for my athleticism in both of mother natures playgrounds! It’s totally a surreal! I never thought my dreams of being able to represent on the ocean would happen (who doesn’t want to be a pro surfer?)… and I was very wrong. I also love wake surfing. I grew up on a lake and we wake boarded everyday we could, but wake surfing is killer ‘cause I can practice my surfing skills behind the boat without getting swallowed up by the whitewater or have to worry about a washing machine experience. I hope to get way better on my short board out surfing this summer and dive into kite surfing… I feel there is total freedom in both those sports that I want to experience and conquer.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR FITNESS ROUTINE?
I would have to say the most important part is staying consistent in my yoga practice. I got certified this last December. I am so in love with my new found physical passion with a spiritual twist. It’s magic! I have had 10 surgeries, due to my injuries in professional snowboarding days and I live with constant chronic arthritis in my left achilles tendon. Yoga is healing my body… and installing a new found grace in my being that I have always longed to have. It is healing me inside and out. I wouldn’t give up my yoga practice for anything, and I wish everyone would be open minded to it. Honestly. Yoga was the last thing I would have ever seen myself being an addict to, but now, I can’t live without it.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BODY PART TO TRAIN?
When I am at my gym, the Equinox, I love training my abs & shoulders & back. Just feels good to burn them out and I see awesome results. I think a sexy tummy and lean arms & chiseled back look good when your naked, too. I run stairs almost everyday… so that plays into keeping a nice toned booty too! Gotta keep gravity at bay and keep my money maker lifted… nothing looks hotter than a nice perky booty in a pair of tight jeans, and I am definitely a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal.
DO YOU PREFER WORKING OUT IN A GYM OR EXERCISING OUTDOORS AND WHY?
Mother Natures Playground baby! That’s where you’ll find me most of the time. However, I am in love with my Santa Monica Equinox… those eucalyptus towels are so yummy to wrap around your neck and rub all over your body after a good sweaty workout.
