Colleen Elizabeth – Gym Crush

How did you get started in fitness?
I really wasn’t athletic until I started working out in college. Being the typical college girl I thought not eating a lot and burning off calories on the elliptical machine was the best route to stay thin. Years later I realized what you put into your body is just as important as how you train it. At the end of last year, I changed up my diet and started doing more weightlifting instead of cardio because I wanted to shed the excess fat and start treating my body right.

How do you stay motivated in your career?
Seeing results is the biggest motivator. When I look at pictures from several years back to even a couple months ago I can really see that my hard work is paying off. I’m not exactly where I want to be yet but I’m continuing to challenge my body and raising the bar of what I can do.

What was your biggest challenge in your fitness journey?
Eating right and working out when I’m traveling. I love food and always want to try new things so it’s harder to stick to a regime when you’re not in your own surroundings. Gyms in hotels tend to not have all the equipment I typically use so you have to rearrange your routines as well.

What’s your favorite music to workout to?
I listen to a lot of EDM like Tiesto, Skrillex or Swedish House Mafia. Anything with a really fast beat so I keep my energy up.

What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Mac and Cheese, pizza, or strawberry doughnuts. Trust me I can eat and being from Wisconsin it’s probably a sin not to love cheese!

What does your typical week in the gym look like?
I typically work out 5-6 days a week… legs every other day since I need to build my booty back up after losing a lot of fat from it. If it’s not leg day, I’ll go on the stair climber to get my heart rate up for 10-15 min then do back and biceps, chest and triceps, and shoulders and abs. Now that the weather is getting better I’ll probably throw in some hiking as well once in awhile.

Which female fit celebrity’s physique do you admire the most?
There’s a lot of women nowadays that I admire- Paige Hathaway, Sarah Stage, Jenna Renee and Jamie Lynn to name a few. They are extremely fit but also gorgeous!

The perfect outfit is gym clothes, a hot bikini or lingerie?
I feel most comfortable in lingerie but I seem to live in yoga pants and sports bras during the day!

What does your supplement schedule look like?
I use Cellucor C4 Extreme pre-workout and then drink Muscle Milk Light shake post workout. Other than that I’m pretty clean and take a Women’s vitamin daily.

What body part are you most proud of?
I think my back muscles are the most defined but I’m more proud of my abs. I never had abs before nor been able to wear crop tops with confidence so I love to show them off nowadays!

Do you have any advice or inspirational words for someone who is aspiring to get into the fitness world?
I would say go for any goals you put ahead of yourself. You never know what you can accomplish until you put your mind to something-whether it be to lose a couple extra pounds, be healthier for yourself and enjoy life to the fullest, or to even go as far as competing in competitions. Might as well try…you might win or lose but you’ll look back and know that you gave everything you had and that is an accomplishment in itself!

What’s next for you?
I’m definitely going to continue to model and get some more publications under my belt; who knows what else I might attempt so you’ll have to wait and see :)
