Brittney Palmer – April 2014 – Fitness Gurls Cover Model


Welcome back Brittney! We’re so glad to have you back from your 2nd cover of Fitness Gurls… we hope it’s not your last. One of the things we’ve notice from your last shoot, is your physique! You’ve been hitting the gym hard! What kinds of workouts have you been doing?
Thank you so much for having me back! You’re right a lot has changed this past few years. Me losing my baby fat is one. I’ve only just turned 26 and I started working in dance shows on the Vegas Strip and the WEC when I was 19. So seven years have gone by as I’ve grown up in front of the camera. Also, I feel like I’ve just figured out the formula to my body type. I know what works, what doesn’t and what to do to maintain. How did you get started in fitness?
I think being a part of the UFC – a mainstream sport where everyone is so well conditioned, keeps you on your toes. I feel like if I wasn’t into fitness I wouldn’t have a job.

How do you stay motivated in your career?
I think being one of the few girls that are spokes-models for the UFC is such an honor. I take my job very seriously, people may think all our job is to tell you which round it is… but there’s so much more to it. We’re ambassadors of the sport. Before every big event we are doing a full day of media – local TV and Radio shows – to promote the sport and the event. We’re not only have to look good, we have to be very media friendly and able to communicate what incredible athletes the UFC showcases and to know what we are talking about when it comes to the sport.

What does your diet consist of?
I’m really big into the super foods, green drinks, chai seeds, protein shakes, salmon from sushi and tapas.

But, to be honest, I don’t really restrict my diet too much. If you know what I know you will understand how I can eat what I want. There is never a moment of the day when I am hungry – ever. You can read more about it at Brittneypalmer.com/fitness.

Does being around professional athletes in the UFC motivate you to be more fit in your own life?
I think it definitely motivates me on my workouts. Obviously I have to look hopefully as good as the people I represent.

What body part are you most proud of?
I think I’m most proud of my hips right now… it’s been very hard for me to have a butt without really big hips… I think I’ve figured out the secret.. Spin.

You work with fellow fitness goddess Arianny Celeste, do you two ever train together?
We have trained together a few times. Mostly when we travel. It’s always fun for her and I to push each other different strokes for different folks! Ha.

Which female celebrity’s physique do you admire the most?
I really love a girl with curves, so probably Jessica Biel.

What celebrity male’s physique do you find idea on guys?
I would have to say David Beckham. Long, lean, not too big, but strong.

What are your 3 favorite exercises?
Spin, Vinyasa yoga, Muay Thai, these workouts just work for my body type. Cardio based and they keep my heart rate up which burns more calories.. most important, enjoy your workouts! I promise it makes it a whole lot easier.

How do you balance your petite physique, while still having good muscle on your frame?
The muscle is not the issue. The “petite” is the issue for me. My body type is a combination mesomorph/endomorph. You have to understand you are who you are. It’s very hard to completely change your frame. The key is knowing your body type and doing everything you can to be the best possible YOU. I did the wrong workouts for my body type for years (under the guidance of so called expert trainers). This is amongst the most important information anyone can learn if they want to look their best without being on an endless restrictive diet and exercise program. I think the change in my body over the last three years show that this stuff works. See my blog for body type info!

What supplements would you use or recommend?
Super Greens and Natures Fuel are a must for getting your vitamins in.

Top 5 tips for people who want to get in shape?
Honestly, you should just read my fitness blog: brittneypalmer.com/fitness . It explains everything you need to know and the science behind it. I will say, it’s a lifestyle change. It’s not a sprint. It’s a marathon. You’re in it for the long haul.

You’re also a great artist. What art piece you’ve finished lately, you’re most proud of?
I just finished a self portrait and am selling out of the prints ALREADY!!!
I’m so lucky to do what I love in every arena. Art, UFC, Hosting, Modeling, all of it. Pretty sick!

One again, thank you for being our cover model again! We have to get you back in the few months, but for now, what’s next for you?
Next for me is exactly what I’m doing now. Living every minute like it counts and to the fullest.
